Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, Margarita Kotlyarova began playing piano at the age of six at the School for Gifted Children, Division of the St. Petersburg Conservatory.

She received a Master's Degree in Music as a Piano Teacher, Concert Performer, Chamber Ensemble Soloist and Accompanist from the Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory in St. Petersburg.

She has studied under Serafima Olkhovsky, Victoria Bogdashevsky, Valery Vasiliyev (pupil of Heinrich Neuhaus), Yelena Shafran, Sofia Vakman, Bella Davidovich, Gregory Dinor (teacher of Rodion Shchedrin) and Pavel Serebryakov. She currently resides and teaches in Needham, Massachusetts.

Margarita has performed recitals as a soloist, accompanist and chamber musician in St. Petersburg and Moscow, Russia, and as an accompanist in the IVth USA International Ballet Competition, Jackson, Mississippi. She is also the First Prize winner in the "All-Russian Competition for Professional Musicians", St. Petersburg.

She possesses over 25 years of extensive experience in teaching piano on all levels.

She was a faculty staff (piano) at the State Music School and at the Music School for Gifted Children in St. Petersburg, the St. Petersburg Conservatory, as well as the Indian Hill Arts School in Littleton, MA, USA.

She is also a member of the Massachusetts Music Teachers Association, New England Piano Teachers Association and the National Guild of Piano Teachers (American College of Musicians).

Currently she teaches at her own private piano studio.
