Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, Margarita Kotlyarova began playing piano at the age of six at the School for Gifted Children, Division of the St. Petersburg Conservatory.
She received a Master's Degree in Music as a Piano Teacher, Concert Performer, Chamber Ensemble Soloist and Accompanist from the Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory in St. Petersburg.
She has studied under Serafima Olkhovsky, Victoria Bogdashevsky, Valery Vasiliyev (pupil of Heinrich Neuhaus), Yelena Shafran, Sofia Vakman, Bella Davidovich, Gregory Dinor (teacher of Rodion Shchedrin) and Pavel Serebryakov. She currently resides and teaches in Needham, Massachusetts.
Margarita has performed recitals as a soloist, accompanist and chamber musician in St. Petersburg and Moscow, Russia, and as an accompanist in the IVth USA International Ballet Competition, Jackson, Mississippi. She is also the First Prize winner in the "All-Russian Competition for Professional Musicians", St. Petersburg.
She possesses over 25 years of extensive experience in teaching piano on all levels.
She was a faculty staff (piano) at the State Music School and at the Music School for Gifted Children in St. Petersburg, the St. Petersburg Conservatory, as well as the Indian Hill Arts School in Littleton, MA, USA.She is also a member of the Massachusetts Music Teachers Association, New England Piano Teachers Association and the National Guild of Piano Teachers (American College of Musicians).
Currently she teaches at her own private piano studio.

Become Winners of the Massachusetts State and International Piano competitions (Washington D.C. and New York), American Protege International Piano & String Competition and Nancy Oliva Prize
Won prizes at the Annual Solo Piano Competition at Ithaca College School of Music
Won the Bradshaw & Buono International Duo and Solo Piano Competition in 2005 and 2009
Won competitions at the American Fine Arts Festival, Carnegie Hall (New York), German Cultural Center, Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (Washington D.C.) and the International Duo and Solo Competitions in New York
Received performance evaluations and have been graded highly by the National Guild of Piano Teachers; also received High School diplomas in Music
Been invited to perform at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Washington, DC
Been selected to perform with the Youth Orchestra at the Boston University
Successfully passed evaluations by the Massachusetts Music Teachers Association and the Royal Academy of Music
Performed as soloists and accompanists at various musical events at their schools as well as the following venues: Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (Washington D.C.), Carnegie Hall (New York), German Cultural Center, Dicapo Opera Theater (New York), Merkin Concert Hall (New York), Yamaha Piano Salon (New York)
Continued their music education at Yale University, Dartmouth College, Harvard University, Wellesley College, Parsons School Of Design, Emory University and received a Bachelor's Degree in Music from Eastman School Of Music.
Won full music scholarship at the George Washington University (Washington D.C.)
Others have been selected for the Summer program at the Tanglewood School Of Music
